Law Firm Library Survey

BIALL Law Library Survey

The very first Law Firm Library Survey has been completed and is now available to BIALL Members.

The new survey is designed to aid law firm librarians benchmark their services against other law firms. It provides a snapshot of staffing, expenditure on hard copy material, subscriptions to databases and the range of services supplied by respondents.

58 law firms responded to the survey in its inaugural year. An article summarising the results will appear in the Summer issue of Legal Information Management.

The survey would not have been made possible without the efforts of the Working Group, whom we’d like to thank: Karen Gray (Information and Research Services Manager, Gowling WLG), Claire Greening (Head of Library and Knowledge Services, Withers LLP), Helen Gwinn (Legal Information Manager, Blake Morgan LLP), Diane Nicholls (Knowledge Services Manager, Irwin Mitchell LLP), Steven Riley (Library/Information Services Officer, Mills & Reeve LLP), Janet Scoones (Director of Information and KM, Trowers & Hamlins LLP), Helen Williams (Senior Information Specialist, Integreon).

We are also indebted to Dr Shona McTavish who prepared the analysis.

Any comments or feedback can be sent to or to the BIALL President Elect.

The next survey is planned for the beginning of 2018.
